Job Description Summary
The Library Assistant for Acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan is primarily responsible for ordering all library materials, books and periodicals. After verifying receipt of materials, this position prepares invoices for approval by the Director prior to their submission to the business office for payment. This position also fulfills interlibrary loan requests from students and faculty. This position also works at the circulation desk.The Library Assistant for Acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan is primarily responsible for ordering all library materials, books and periodicals. Duties
- Reviews requests for new materials for duplication and places and receives orders from vendors. Verifies receipt of materials and prepares invoices for Director’s approval.
- Receives and processes interlibrary loan requests from AB Tech patrons and from other Libraries.
- Receives and processes daily periodicals subscriptions. Submits claims for missing or damaged serials with appropriate vendors. Processes renewal claims and submits invoices to Director for approval.
- Obtains web links for online serials subscriptions from vendors and works with systems librarian to incorporate resource links into the library webpages.
- Reconciles daily receipts with Library systems report; prints out credit card report and creates daily total collections report to be submitted to the Business Office.
- Receives and applies appropriate budget code to invoices for databases, equipment maintenance, subscriptions, and other various invoices and submits to Director for approval prior to submission to the Business Office for payment.
- Inventories office and book covering supplies. Receives staff requests for supplies and places orders and receives supplies as needed.
- Organizes, files, and properly stores all backup information related to Library materials ordering, supply materials and other Library financial records. Discards according to State Mandated Schedule.
- Works at the circulation desk including performing opening/closing as needed.
- Periodic and end of year reconciling of invoices between budget spreadsheet and Colleague. Research invoice discrepancies and follows up with the business office and vendors.
- Assesses interlibrary loan items and follows up with patrons and libraries regarding overdue and lost/damaged items.
- Coordinates and implements annual and biannual serials discards.
- Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
- Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
- Must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent work experience in a library setting or customer service work experience in a retail setting;
- Must have a minimum of basic computer experience including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education library work experience.
- Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.
The total compensation for this position includes a 24.04% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
